BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Lights..Camera..Action! The stars have arrived in Brisbane Australia- well, at least they have on the silver screen. The Brisbane International Film Festival started 15 years ago, and hopefully will be around for many more years to come. The yearly festival, held in and around various venues of Brisbane city, previews, premieres, and celebrates all the latest films from a variety of genres and countries.

Events are both ticketed and free, and are held every year in the winter season. The Festival aims to get communities and families involved together, to celebrate the wonder and enjoyment that is cinema. For families, a variety of activities are on offer - from relaxing at South Bank Parklands to watching a classic film, to letting loose at Family Fun Day - both free admission!

Hop on a Brisbane transport bus and take a trip out to the suburbs to see a film screening in a public park, or consult a Brisbane map and make your way around the variety of different Brisbane cinema venues hosting screenings.

One such venue - the Southbank Cineplex - boasts a huge IMAX screen in one of their theatres! Nearby, the Suncorp Piazza features another giant movie screen that is outdoors, yet still sheltered from the wind and rain.

Another Brisbane Film Festival venue, the Regent in the Queen Street mall, brings old-world charm to patrons in its cinema, featuring soft lighting and soaring high ceilings - perfect for those romantic film premieres.
